![]() One of New Zealand’s leading hairdressers Hamish McKay, Premier Hairdressing Academy Director, is a man full of warmth, charm and passion who happily confesses that his biggest passion is hairdressing. He says, “It is an exciting and highly creative career and one that is personal to you. Unlike many other careers hairdressing is totally dependent on your individual talent and your “hands”. Opening a hairdressing college to train students was a natural progression for Hamish and when Premier Hairdressing College was opened 17 years ago he was delighted to have the opportunity to pass his “passion” on to others. “I believe you have to learn hairdressing in the conventional way and from all angles. Learning to cut and apply colour are all extremely important to becoming a professional hairdresser.”

“I have been involved in hairdressing in New Zealand and overseas for over 30 years. Hairdressing is highly creative and is a great career.
There are exciting opportunities now for hairdressers internationally and locally in fashion, movies, television. Premier Hairdressing College has a vibrant, qualified team committed to providing a stimulating and caring environment where students strive for personal excellence.
While a key aim of the college is to train hairdressers, equally important is moulding learners into competent, well-rounded and successful people. We work to ensure positive outcomes for our students. We specialise in accredited course delivery and graduate job placement and training providing the most up-to-date facilities and technology resources for all qualifications available.
I am extremely proud of our Colleges. We have an ambitious vision for the future and I welcome you to be a part of what promises to be an exciting journey”
